Are you hosting on the same machine you're playing on? Your router might not support NAT loopback and hence why you can't see your own server in the serverlist whereas others might (if you did everything else properly, including port forwarding). Get a friend to search your server in the list and see if he can connect to it. You yourself can connect to it via connect localhost:port.
