Massive bandwidth spike from game server
-
Hi,
Sorry for the long thread but I'll be going through the timeline of what happened with all the details I know.
I set up a Co-Op and Zombies server a 2 days ago on a VPS and yesterday while I on the zombies server and the map changed, my internet dropped out and I had to reset my router (which reset my IP).
After I was back online I logged into the VPS and the zombies server console was locked up, only saying "Sending heartbeat" and "Heartbeat successful". IW4M-Admin couldn't connect to it and manually typing in commands did nothing so I just closed and reopened it and didn't think much of it for a couple of hours until I saw a warning email from my VPS.
They said that they detected a massive bandwidth spike going to my old home IP which was flagged as malicious, and gave the following example (port 28961 is what zombies server runs on).
2022-03-13 05:35:00 UTC IP 45.76.121.153:28961 > (Target IP):28960 udp, length 1202, Frag:0, packets 4096
2022-03-13 05:35:00 UTC IP 45.76.121.153:28961 > (Target IP):28960 udp, length 1202, Frag:0, packets 4096
2022-03-13 05:35:00 UTC IP 45.76.121.153:28961 > (Target IP):28960 udp, length 1202, Frag:0, packets 4096
2022-03-13 05:35:00 UTC IP 45.76.121.153:28961 > (Target IP):28960 udp, length 1202, Frag:0, packets 4096
2022-03-13 05:35:00 UTC IP 45.76.121.153:28961 > (Target IP):28960 udp, length 1202, Frag:0, packets 4096I had a look at the usage stats and I can see it attempted to send 290GB in about 6 minutes at 1.40 Gbps+ to my home IP, which is very likely the cause of it dropping out.
Are there any known issues that could cause something like this? It happened on a freshly installed Windows Server 2022 with only DirectX9, dotnet, Plutonium T4 and IW4M-Admin installed on it. The zombies server only uses stock maps with no mods so it isn't an issue with that.
I'm being asked by the VPS provider to make sure it doesn't happen again or they'll shut it down. -
I am having the same problem and did you manage to solve it?

@SweetBaloso Are you running the latest version of Plutonium T4? I had this issue before but I was able to have it investigated by the Plutonium team and it has since been fixed in the latest version of Plutonium.

I'm using the latest version

@SweetBaloso Well you'll have to do what I did and create a dump of the server when it happens and link it here.
