Audio issues when coming back to a paused game

When I pause my game and take a couple hours or go to sleep, I come back and I can't hear my game sound through my headset or anything. If I stream my game, my audio is included into it though. I tried adjusting any setting I could think of and nothing worked. It won't let me switch to any different sound setting in game to attempt to reset it, and reopening the game isn't an option. Help?
