How to Use Custom Emblem?

ik it sounds dumb because there's a button that says use form avatar but when i click it, all it does is change my emblem to the fng tags. so i figured id do that and restart my iw5 to see it pop up but no it reverts back to what i had previously. am i missing something?

uhhpew only shows up in-game, not in the menus. If you die to yourself, with a frag grenade you hold for example, you should see it
