In File Explorer, click view from the top and turn off “Hide file extensions” if you have it on. Fix the filename if needed then restart the game and check.

If you’ve disabled hiding the file extension then renamed the file if you had to but it didn’t work, provide a screenshot showing the path of where the file is located, its name, and what’s written inside it.

I’m not sure how to post images. I completely deleted the file, turned off the hide known file extensions, redownloaded the file and still have the same issue. Again I’m sorry I can’t figure out how to upload images, I’m on iOS

Hadi77KSA sorry it took a few days. So with the winrar screenshot, that's what i see when i open the "bots.iwd" file up. Maps and scripts, even after turning off that hide file function you spoke about before, and as i stated before i did delete and reinstall the file entirely, just to be sure. just for reference, i did try and move the "bots" file to the mod folder as a youtube video suggested, and tried to make my own text file for bot names, but then the mod simply didn't load into the game at all or work whatsoever. When i play with the mod as is, it works fine, but i won't lie, the "bot1" names are driving me up the wall, lol.

McRetnuh I was more so asking about the bots.txt file that you created, not z_svr_bots.iwd. Anyway, you have to create the bots.txt file in the storage\iw5 directory. Make sure it’s “bots”, not “bot”.

I did do that, and I crammed that text file into every spot I could think of. None of it seemed to work. When I get to my pc in a day or so I will try this out and see how it does. I appreciate the help. I just would really like to get to the bottom of it, you know.

so i made a fresh text file for the iw5 storage directory, as so. Got 20+ names in it. unfortunately i'm still having the same issue. mod still works beautifully. just still stuck with playing with "bot1" and so on

McRetnuh the screenshot you’ve provided shows the size of bots.txt as 0 KB, therefore indicating it’s empty. Make sure the one in storage\iw5 is not empty.
Also, make sure to delete any other bots.txt files that you placed in any other place.

I definitely see where it says 0kb, indicating nothing, but I promise when you open the file it’s got the names on each line, basically typed then made a new line, new name, new line etc. I did clear the older .txt files.

McRetnuh make sure the changes you’re seeing have been saved to the file or try another text editor program, because the file is empty according to the screenshot.

I see what you’re saying. I opened the file and it brought up the notepad, hence why I “saw the names”. I did file it properly and voila, names worked. I appreciate it, seriously thank you for your help these last few days
