Yes there is.
In the Config.cfg file, you will find lines like:
bind BUTTON_LTRIG "+speed_throw"
bind BUTTON_RTRIG "+attack"
bind BUTTON_LSHLDR "+smoke"
bind BUTTON_RSHLDR "+frag"replace your LTRIG and RTRIG with LSHLDR and RSHLDR, respectively. To save these options and avoid editing them every time, look for:
seta gpad_buttonsConfig "buttons_default"
change it to:
seta gpad_buttonsConfig "buttons_custom"
this ensures that the game doesn't load the default button layout. Also, make sure the Config.cfg file is set to "read-only" since the game might overwrite the file to its standard configuration upon launch.

I've been looking for this exact info as well since i cannot find that file either, would it need to be created?
