GateDiggers said in T4, T5, T6, IW5 naming is not user friendly:

These names are code names that only the developers would know. Why should we the end user/player have to memorize these code names instead of familiar names such as Black Ops 1, Black Ops 2, MW3 that we already know. Why add this touch?

Those names are older than you, I can promise that.
The first time I heard about “IW5” was from FD1 (Four Delta One), same with T5.
And it’s not that hard to figure out which games they’re based on from their code names.

Where do you have to memorize them?

Xerxes Because there is no mention of the proper game titles anywhere in Plutonium. I shouldn't have to read a forum article to translate these silly code names to the actual real game names. This idea was totally beyond the scope of what was necessary for no reason at all. If you want to use silly code names at least put the real names in the title too? Steam doesn't have the game ID code as the title in the library interface, it uses the official player friendly names. It also adds unnessessary confusion because I have to use the background images to tell the difference between "T5" and "T6". This is an autistic design choice that is not user friendly.

tell me you don't read the website without telling me you don't read the website...

            https://plutonium.pw/docs/engine-explanations/

It also says the GateDiggers friendly title in big bold letters before you have to hit play... so it's not like you have to guess or decipher the background image.

DirkRockface I am a player, not a modder. I shouldn't have to research these fancy code names and decipher them to the official names. That is my point here. A lack of a user friendly design and I am doing my best to provide the most constructive criticism possible because that is how things improve.

so are you going to stop playing call of duty on plutonium because you can't figure out those terms? because they aren't going away... or being changed... so i'm not sure what you are looking to get done. We understand they are confusing to you and you don't like them... but they aint going anywhere so... 🤷

What is even Plutonium Forums nowadays in the futuristic-sounding year of 2025 with a topic like this XD

Literally the first page of our documentation which explains how to install Plutonium has both names side by side. Which you can only miss if you were using some 3rd party guide on the install process.

Yeah, I get what you mean. It’d make way more sense if they just listed the actual game titles alongside the codenames — not everyone wants to dig through forums just to figure out what “T5” or “T6” even means.

Also, I’d add that this kind of naming might make sense for the dev team, but for regular users it just creates unnecessary friction. A simple update showing both the codename and the proper title would solve this completely.
