    Hey everyone,

I have been experimenting with the BO2 PS5 version and its LAN functionality, and I found something interesting.

The PS5 port still seems to contain the old LAN/System Link discovery code. Using Wireshark, I noticed that when selecting the LAN Party browser it sends unencrypted UDP broadcast packets on the local network.

The dicovery request looks like a classic CoD-style OOB packet:

ff ff ff ff 32 getinfo xxx

The PS5 is basically broadcasting a server discovery request and waiting for a response.

I also tested a Plutonium T6 dedicated server. The server understands normal T6 client connections (connectReq, connectRes, ConnectGTSReq, challenge handshake, etc.), but it does not seem to answer the PS5 discovery request correctly (it just answers with a disconnect messange)

    This makes me wonder:

    • Has anyone already looked into the BO2 LAN/System Link protocol?
    • Is the LAN discovery response format documented somewhere?
    • Does Plutonium support any kind of LAN host discovery, or is it only designed around dedicated servers/master servers?
    • Has anyone tried getting the console LAN mode working with PC/T6?

It looks like the PS5 version is still using a lot of the original BO2 networking code, so maybe bridging it would be possible with enough protocol information.

Im relativily new to this subject, so any pointers or existing research would be appreciated!
