custom game w/ friend(s) [T4]

hey!
I hope that all is well in this long period of Covid. A little misinformed, I would like to have a precise answer to be sure. With a friend, we would like to play custom zombie (normal) and I would like to know if, to play him and me only and not in a server, being friends on the forum can be enough, or if I still need to create a dedicated server.
I think I know the answer but as they say, there is never a dumb question. Thanks in advance
