When did people stop using common sense?

Over the years some form of paranoia took over in older COD games communities, especially when it's so easy to get cheats for the vanilla version of the game now. Not to mention that gaming communities in general are more and more toxic nowadays.
Preventing people from hacking is one of our main priorities (if not the top one) and we have a 0 tolerance policy against cheaters. But people got so used to call each other hackers that they'll throw the word around to anyone who outplayed them. Plenty of times we got sent footage that was supposed to look suspicious but was nothing but normal.
Also, recoil on MW3? Most of the popular weapons in this game have close to no recoil in the first place. MP7s, ACRs and SCARs are literally shooting laser beams.

Alot of the community are teenagers who can't comprehend a world where others can be far more skilled than them. So they throw out the hacker accusation because the alternative is accepting that maybe the other guy is better than them.
Even I get accused of hacking in some servers with my 1.5KD and Pluto tag :')

When did pc cod's go from wow you're nuts to wow ban this cheater
I would say pretty much at the same time when the shift happened from asking your local teen to fix your PC to asking your local teen's dad to fix your PC.

xvc it already happened back in the 4DO days...
This is a video of me getting banned from an IW5M server 7 years ago:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=3&v=MGcCVvG5LdAThat's one of the reasons I want matchmaking so badly, server admins can rarely be trusted to provide people with a proper game experience...

This is pretty funny but true, the amount of younger players in the 12-14 year old range who can't do basic PC stuff amazes me.

And then what? Kids with force host kicking you from lobbies instead? Its not like MM will magically solve the issue. With dedicated servers you can at least ignore the bad ones, with MM it can happen, that it will put you into the same lobby over and over again.
I mostly still have the same admins I have had 10 years ago due to the lack of decent to good applicants, I am not sure if its because our servers are less popular or because too much has changed during the years.

The problem with dedis is not only on how poorly admins manage their population but also in the way they're configured, no map rotation, stupid time or score limits, unnecessary high player counts, all servers have 18 players when most maps can't handle that, the list goes on and on...
With matchmaking you have at least the possibility of enjoying the vanilla game, so yeah from time to time a kid would ruin the lobby with stupid scripts but it's something that even happens on PS3 and 360, you just leave the lobby and get matched again, also if you make a matchmaking playlist for kids who wanna run scripts like there was in aIW, you could probably manage this issue... some additions to the matchmaking system, like an option to blacklist certain players to avoid being matched with them could meddle this btw...
I'm not saying matchmaking is perfect, I'm just saying it's better if you want to enjoy a vanilla experience of the game and it's a great thing to have along dedicated servers, I'm not saying we should have one and not the other...

There's no plans to introduce matchmaking indeed. While dedicated servers might have their flaws, they still allow alot of flexibility and customization, which is a huge benefit for everyone long-term.
Also, OW's blocking system works because it has millions of players. We can't afford to split our playerbase with such a system.

You can
t blame kids today for acting dumb.I blame the parents. The lack of parenting displayed by kids in online games is scary. [ Idiocracy , here we come ! ] The most scary thing
bout this is that games are now targeted at those dumb kids. And this has been happening for more than 10 years , u can see it in games like CoD , LoL , WoW .
I had high hopes for inXile and Obsidian , but they got bought my Microsh*t...so that`s the end of my hopes for more great games..
On the other side look at RimWorld...pure epicness, prob the best game in the past 5-10 years. All i can say is thx god for indie games . -

I am not saying you don't have a point here but everything you listed is possible with lobbies as well. And not all servers are configured like that.

You can do the same with dedicated servers and blacklist them.

Eh yeah, I know it's possible in lobbies but it just rarely happens, I remember my matchmaking experience in aIW/4D1 in the beginning it was horrible, too much kids ruining the stuff, then they made a matchmaking playlist for those wanting to fuck around it made things way better (people mostly respected the thing) and once we had dedis you'd just rarely pop on a modded lobby...
I made a feature suggestion a few days ago, asking to let players host listen servers, possibly from an option in the private match menu to turn a private match into a listen server, the server would be listed in the server list, that could help people host more vanilla content and make it more accessible, I know I would use that quite a lot...
-
But private matches are listen servers to the very word of their definition. You still have to portforward and they are already joinable (I think) through the friends list in PlutoIW5. The only thing they don't do is to heartbeat.
I think you are looking back at aIW and 4D1 through rose tinted glasses or the players did behave drastically different in your region than they did in mine.

Well then give an option for the guy hosting a private match to let it appear on the server list, this sounds even easier than what I thought, I initially thought just as you but Mr.Android told me it'd be difficult due to how things are emulated, maybe he did not correctly understood my idea...

Well maybe it's a regional thing, I live in France and French people just aren't much of the type to meddle with things, not because they don't want to but because they're the type that can hardly be arsed to do anything...
