How does Plutonium devs make money?

Maybe it sounds as something where I should not get involved but I find interesting specially for the long term experience, sohow it's reliable Plutonium as servers costs money? Same question for others like X Labs or SM².

@GatoXikito donations cover server costs for now. this project doesn't really generate any profit, all the donations are used to keep the project going. staff have jobs irl and do this as a hobby in their free time so it's not like we need to make money off this.
xlabs barely has server costs, there is one small server that handles the serverlist and updater. i have no idea about sm2.

Also keep in mind that the people behind those projects don't host any game server. Servers are hosted by the community
