are password protected servers working?

hey there,
I would like to host a dedicated server for my friends and myself that is password protected. i cant seem to get the password working (set g_
password "the password"). aswell i cannot connect to my own server using connect 127.0.0.1:my_server_port. i have opened an inbound and outbound port via windows firewall defender and my own router. any and all help is appreciated.-baristabot

i checked my logs to see if the password gets assigned and this is the only thing i found pertaining to dedicated_sp.cfg
ive tried using the following:
g_password "abc"
set g_password "abc"
sv_privatePassword "abc"
set sv_privatePassword "abc"any and all help is appreciated.
