Friend can't join my custom game

i have the ports open in both my firewall and router, however when he tries joining through the command it says "joining game session" then nothing happens. Does he need to open ports through his router too or should it be working??

Spufde no only the host has to do that. Can you post a screenshot of your port forwarding settings? Also did you start the game before letting him connect?

Dss0 I started the game beforehand yeah, I got to the screen where it said "waiting for players 1/2" but he couldn't join from there. Here's a screenshot
