Problem with settings

Whenever I try to change something from graphics it kicks me out of the game (while it's open) and then doesnt let me do anything, not going in the game back again, not opening any other game/app. It basically freezes but if I close bin/plutonium-bootstrapper-win32.exe it solves (but the changes I made don't save) Help!
