How do I play custom games when there is no option for it?

How do I play with a friend if I cant start a custom games server? Or do anything that requires custom games like playing custom maps? I'm pretty sure I'm just being dumb and this is probably an update or something but I just wanted to make sure. If this is the correct way then how do I play with a friend, play custom maps, play with cheats etc.

Just hit Play, select the map you want to play, configure it to your liking, start match. Then get your friend to join through the aforementioned guide. Custom Games has been merged as of the last few updates.
