Can't join my friend in server browser in the zombies mode

I have tried to join via the friend list and I also tried searching up the server in the browser and all that happens is "Joining Server" pops up for a second and then disappears, what do I do?

Your friend gotta port forward. Read the whole guide.

but its not a private game we are trying to join the same server. I also checked and have UPNP enabled in the server browser and I have port forwarded recently...

If you're trying to join a server you don't have to do anything with UPnP or port forward. Only people hosting need to. Your issue is somewhere else but I don't where yet

One/Both of you are on an outdated version, update.
