Failed to check for updates :(

Hello people, I have this problem, I downloaded the Call of Duty WaW and when I open the plutonium file it gives me the message "Failed to check for updates" and it connects me in LAN mode and creates another exe named "plutonium.new. exe", entering either of the two gives me that error message and when I open the game it won't let me connect to any server because it's supposedly not updated, does anyone know what I can do?
