How do I enable controller

I was told the only thing I needed to do was to enable Gamepad in the settings but I don't even have the option to do that because it's greyed out and not clickable. I have DS4 on, I have the controller setup, I have reset my game multiple times but it still remains greyed out

gpad_enable 1 or gpad_enabled 1 in the console. I forget lmao
