cant join or be joined custom zombies game

Ive gone through and port forwarded the right port, added it to my firewall whitelist, enabled uPnP done everything the guide has said but everytime it tells me and my friend its joining then gives an error that it cant connect, can i get a real answer instead of pointing me at the custom game page because it obviously does not work

not even on the site but found on Reddit, port forward the 3074 port, not even mentioned here. worked immediately.
