Cannot connect to peers on same local network

I'm trying to play Co-Op Zombies with my housemates on the same local network and can't join their lobbies or host one. I've also tried to connect via the console with "connect ..*.**" but it won't connect.. Any ideas?

UPDATE: Connecting to a VPN on one of the PC's lets you join, not an ideal solution but it works for now..

sorry if my friends and I have a vpn can we enter the private game?

When you mean Bo1 you can easily join via friendslist or connect ipv4 ip from host.

LuX_Falkon Yes, but you only need to do this if you're both on the same local network, otherwise you can just join as normal when you've added each other as a friend on Plutonium.

@L2PNoob It's not working because we're on the same local network. Otherwise this is the way I'd normally connect.
