Technical question about t6r.dll
-
Hello,
I have a technical question about t6r.dll (79926416a58bfa201349af9e5bff258a3b8a4f15). When downloading this mod i was performing my regular checks to make sure it is clean i noticed that VT shows 25/71 but i figure that is because the DLL's code is obfuscated (VMProtect in this case). Why do you guys use anti reversing software? I am genuinely curious and just wanna make sure that it is safe.

DevilsLettuce I don't know much / anything about the technical details, but I can assure you it's safe (assuming you got it from the official source).

The CoD Client scene has a history of rivals stealing work. I won't name them but there's a Iranian based one. It also makes it harder for people to bypass authentication checks. Same reason most companies do after all.
Regardless VMProtect isn't the cause of the false positives, if anything I'd imagine it would lower the amount. The cause is because from an AV's point of view, it's a random .dll file that connects to our master server, polls a serverlist and can check for updates. Which is pretty much the same thing malware tends to do. Sadly there's not much we can do about that, we could obviously crypt the file further to try and lower the false positive count but I'm sure that would just make us look more suspicious.
Our many players are a way to gauge the trustworthyness of the file, we've had FaZe members use our software and not have problems, although I could understand if you are still doubtful as ultimately it's our word vs VT.
It sure does cause problems for the staff team as many support requests are ultimately caused by people not adding exceptions for our files and thus Windows Defender sometimes deletes the file and then players get an error.
