Xbox Controller that is plugged in is suddenly not working.

I used the controller perfectly fine before I went out of town then came back to it not responding. The controller itself works but the game is not responding to its inputs. It connected with a wire to my pc .I restarted plutonium and restarted steam. I also went to controller settings on steam and my controller vibrates when I click identify so steam knows my controller is there. I may be doing something wrong to fix but anything helps. Thanks.
