[SOLVED] BO2 won't start using the launcher
-
Hello!
So, i followed the instructions on how to update the game, i have the base files already downloaded from steam, i launched plutonium.exe that was placed in the game folder, i logged in, selected the game path and pressed play, a command prompt opened and the launcher closed after a few seconds but the game didn't start up and all that was on screen was this:
NOTE: The bootstrapper never gives an error nor does it close, it just stays open, while using approx. 7-8% of my CPU
Steps i already tried:
-
I reinstalled the game, relaunched plutonium,
-
I Made an exception for plutonium in my antivirus,
-
I disabled my antivirus,
-
I made an exception in my firewall just in case,
-
Ran the program as admin,
-
Moved the launcher outside of the game folder and making sure the game path is correct,
-
Used VPN when running the game ,
-
Followed the latest guide located here: https://forum.plutonium.pw/topic/965/bo2-readme,
-
Went to %appdata%, deleted the plutonium folder and re-ran the launcher,
-
Made sure WDefender is fully disabled,
-
Uninstalled any of these programs that might be installed: SONAR RADAR, SONAR STUDIO, GAMERSFIRST IV, NAHIMIC, ADVANCED SYSTEMCARE ULTIMATE, PREMIER OPINION ,
Here's also the directory that the game is installed in:
Here's the launcher window:
SOLVED: At the end of the day, i have found out my Sophos anti-virus was to blame, even though i whitelisted plutonium and excluded the folder, even went as far as disabled the whole antivirus, the only solution to my problem was to fully uninstall it!

Hello, Have you ran as admin, or tried using a vpn. Let me know if you have tried
-
miilk
Hey,
Yes, i have.
Thanks for reminding me will add to the list of attempted fixes -
Sorry for the bump, just trying to resolve the issue
-
I had this happen until I moved plutonium launcher out of the file that you are making a path to, I also believe you dont need t6 in the same folder since we are no longer using t6, after that Id just double check in the game settings for your launcher its routed to the right folder. Hope this helps!

purah Thanks for the suggestion!
Unfortunately, putting the launcher outside the game folder, making sure the game path is correct did not fix my issue, the game still simply will not open.. -
try opening steam and then open the game
-
cirno Thanks for the tip!
Steam was open but i'm still facing the same issue :P.. -
Go to %localappdata% and delete the plutonium folder. Run the launcher again
-
HannesC Thanks for the suggestion,
Tried that, no luck so far unfortunately.. -
The bootstrapper just opens and closes? No error?
-
HannesC The bootstrapper never closes without an error, the launcher behind it does however
-
Launcher closing is intentional, no clue what's the solution sorry
-
HannesC Yeah figured as much just want to give as much info as possible, thanks for trying though!
-
99.9% sure this is related to antivirus.
What antivirus have you got?
Is it the only antivirus you have?
What folder exceptions did you add? -
H3X1C
Thanks for the reply,I am using Sophos
It is the only antivirus, yes
the I've added the game folder as an exception -
eXothicc Are you certain windows defender is disabled?
Also check to see if you have any of these:
SONAR RADAR, SONAR STUDIO, GAMERSFIRST IV, NAHIMIC, ADVANCED SYSTEMCARE ULTIMATE, PREMIER OPINION are some of the programs that cause issue, uninstall them if you have them. -
H3X1C Yes, i am sure it is disabled
The only program close to that would be Driver booster, i've uninstalled it and tried launching the game but the issue persists
-
eXothicc I can only assume it is your antivirus. Even whitelisting is not enough for some antivirus softwares. Could you try uninstalling it?
-
H3X1C Ah yes, i uninstalled Sophos and restarted my PC and i can launch the game, windows defender currently in use and causing no conflicts so i guess there is an 80% chance it was my antivirus, even though it was disabled and the folder/plutonium bootstrapper was whitelisted,
Thanks for your time and assistance!
