Servers don't show and can't join friend

Hello, I love your work because I can play zombies with my friends and BO2 has been working fine.
But I have a problem with BO1 zombies, I was able to play 1 game of Kino with a friend, but the next day and ever since I couldn't join him.
When I try to join him my game freezes (both video and sound stop, so I'm forced to close it through task manager).
When I check the server list no servers show up even when I refresh (I have no filters, just the default).
When I click on private match my game also freezes.I've tried:

Restarting the game

Restarting my computer

Allowing plutonium through firewall

Repairing the game

Deleting the game and downloading it again

Deleted the plutonium folder from loca lappdata and let it update again (I checked and it's up to date)

The game folder is excluded from Windows Defender

I have Google's DNS
I can play solo, but I want to play with my friends too.

Update:
Somehow loading into a map solo and quitting (I also died but not sure if necessary) fixes the freezing (and sometimes the server list), but I still got error for trying to join my friend.
Then I suggested that he switched to party open instead of invite only and somehow that fixed it and I could join him.
