Do Easter Eggs save?

my friends and I are doing a full zombies EE run and we are have just completed COTD but my friend ended the game rather than us dying. My question is will that save that we have the Golden rod for the next EEs or will we have to redo it as we didnt end properly (i searched this up first and the only reply i could find was someone saying theirs no acheivements)
