Any way to forward on a Wi-Fi card or extender?

So me and my friends are unable to connect to each other despite being able to play modded Co-Op a year ago, and we have tried every solution except port forwarding, because none of us are playing on a ethernet connection. Likewise, none of us really have the option of trying to mess with the router due to still living with our respective families. Does anyone know a way to work around this?
