In-game Friends List Expansion

I was just curious about the possible future of the in-game and launcher friends list.
Are there currently any plans to expand upon it? Say allow players to see what game their friends are playing, or maybe having the 'View Steam Profile' action in-game take the player to the other's Plutonium profile.
Just general quality of life social improvements.
