Audio output change

I'd love to be able to hear the audio in my headset instead of solely with my laptop speakers. Is there any way to change this? I've looked at the option and it's greyed out. I'm not very good with coding, so if I don't have to I'd rather not, but if I have to do coding, I'd love a step by step on how to fix it.
