Xbox Series Elite Controller not working.

Im using the steam version of the game and my xbox controller is not connecting to the game for some reason.
- Yes, my gamepad is turned on
- Yes, my steam settings are unchecked like instructed
I tried using it in big picture mode with the controller as well and it didnt work.
this same controller works on the MW3 version of pluto and the other games just not bo2.
if anyone has experienced the same problem please let me know.
