    Xerxes Moron, Plutonium runs fine. The problem is you banning random people with flawed Anti-Cheat, and the OFFICIAL ADVICE FOR DEALING WITH IT (until it got deleted? Been a while.) was to SPOOF MY HARDWARE AND BYPASS THE BAN. Massive lol.

    Black Lament Plutonium is a free project, so they don't really have to do your bidding. Almost most of the bans are done by the anticheat. People not reading the anticheat or not researching thoroughly. The reason why Steam Decks are getting banned is because they have similar hardware/hwid. Someone decided to cheat on the steam deck, which ruined the experience for others. I don't think they'll be lifting it anytime soon as it's a security/cheater risk. So, technically this isn't the plutonium team fault but the community or that person fault who decided to cheat on a steam deck.
    In short, steam decks works fine but isn't technically supported, however someone decided to cheat and ruin the experience for other steam deck players.

      Black Lament The Anti-Cheat may be flawed in its sense of compatibility with the steam-deck. But you need to keep in mind, this is an in-house Anti-Cheat. They made it themselves, and it had came before the steam-deck was even remotely popular among the tech community. So there was never expectations for it to not be supported by HWID misconfiguration.

      As disappointing as it is to not be able to play projects like this because of these reasons, it is within understanding since they are a very small team. When larger company's (ones like Larian-Studios, Take-Two, Pearl Abyss etc) even struggle with general Linux compatibility, I wouldn't imagine it to be a feasible task for Plutonium on-top of any roadmap they have most likely been planning out at the moment.

      There has always been talk of supporting the steam-deck, maybe one day Eldor will flip a switch and decide to start working on the AC for compatibility, and maybe he never will. Regardless acting like this doesn't help, I personally wouldn't want to add support to a community that acts self entitled. No one in Plutonium is telling you to install a whole new OS to play, it is just simply that they are only able to guarantee (as said by Xerxes) support on the hardware they can test it on effectively. Also as he said, Wine is always changing, it's still missing A TON of Windows Calls, Hooks, userbehavior, not to mention general differences in user/sys space.

        Its been how long, 3 years? And yall refuse to do anything about it? i understand to an extent after going through a bunch of different threads and shit, but the launcher works on the oled model just fine due to diff hwid. have you had any hackers since then? and if so why does the oled model work? I get yall are a community ran project, and i absolutely love what yall have done for these games, but why not try and do something about your anitcheat so all steam deck users can enjoy their classics in the safest way? and lets be honest, what are the odds of somebody trying to hack the game or whatver happened that caused this ban, happeing again. and if so hardware ban the guy. fix the anticheat.

          100,000 to 1 odds!!!

          i would bet a month's paycheck that within 1 day of unbanning it, it would be banned again.

            DirkRockface okay well let's look at the iw4x client (I think thats what its called). I am able to play that on the deck, no problem. So whats the difference? Why should deck users be punished for one bad actor? Its the fact that they use a flawed anti cheat system. Instead of banning every steam deck user from playing just ban that person specifically. I believe its just pure laziness.

                  My friend was running on a SteamDeck and was hit with this and... wow... just wow. IDK if he's permanently banned because of this or what, but if you know there's a problem with HWID's being the same, in the AC you make, and you refuse to solve the issue, why would you not preemptively warn that you can't run it?

                    For the same reason that they don't preemptively warn that plutonium can't run on a toaster... or a raspberry pi.

                    There are lots of non-officially supported ways to get plutonium running on different platforms / Operation Systems but you won't find warnings or guides on the official site about those because they don't support those. You WILL find guides and warnings (like it not working on SteamDeck) on the forums... a quick little search before hand would have easily pointed that out 😉

                    Plutonium officially supports windows and sticks to talking about that on it's official site/install guides.

                      Please fix this if at all possible. The Steam Deck is very popular and one of the only console-like experiences on PC. The Steam Machine will be releasing soon and the next generation of Xbox is extremely likely to be a PC-hybrid of some sort so hardware bans for these don't make a lot of sense. There is no other way to safely play BO2 multiplayer anymore, it sucks to be blocked off from it entirely because of bad actors that.

                      I also hope the extremely entitled, obnoxious people in this thread hurling insults at free contributors didn't affect any decisions, they do not speak for Deck users whatsoever.

                      I also have to disagree with the post directly above me. I don't think the Steam Deck is comparable to random hardware and it's popular enough that there would be no reason for someone to assume it wouldn't work when Linux in general does. Especially when this is not a compatibility issue.

                        Lyn_ if you disagree with the post above you then you should re read what i said.

                        It is a FACT that plutonium was designed to run on windows. The fact that it works on some linux setups is GREAT! but not the point of the project.

                        If plutonium running on linux was the point of the project, then it would be designed so that the anti cheat didn't conflict with the way HWID works on the older steam decks.

                        This is a compatibility issue... that's the point! It was never created to run on linux/steam decks. Just because it CAN be made to work on some setups does not mean that the dev team needs to put in extra work to make it work on all of them.

                        I got nothing against the steam deck... i hate too that it doesn't work on it, i'm just saying there are TONS of popular platforms / gaming machines that plutonium will not work on either because it is not what the project is intended for.

                          I FOUND A WORKAROUND WITH CLAUDE FOR THE STEAMDECK. here you go-

                          First run this command in terminal:
                          cat > /home/deck/dxvk_spoof.conf << 'EOF'
                          dxgi.customVendorId = 1002
                          dxgi.customDeviceId = 687F
                          dxgi.customDeviceDesc = AMD Radeon RX 580 Series
                          EOF

                          Then run this:
                          DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=/home/deck/dxvk_spoof.conf

                          at this point I am assuming you have added the plutonium.exe as a nonsteam shortcut in steam, so after that add this launch parameters DXVK_CONFIG_FILE=/home/deck/dxvk_spoof.conf %command%
