Extreme lag

So sometimes when i play some bo2 zombies any map it just starts lagging really badly.
Never really predictable, nor any mods i have installed. Just really laggy sometimes. Is there a reason to prevent, or why this happens? -

Define lag.
There are many different ways a game can lag, even windows can lag if your PC is sufficiently fucked up.
Also go ahead and post your specs.
