Error on download - "Virus Detected"
-
I'm seeing this come up when I try to download this. I looked into it with my antivirus and this is the name of the file. I can turn it off but I am concerned by the type of virus it seems to be. The support I'm looking for specifically is an explanation of this.
Enclosed is a picture with the specific details to the name of the file in question,
"Trojan-Ransom.Win32.Instructions.rt", and my antivirus deleting it. -
Noneyo Which AV is that? I can't find any information on what "instructions.rt" is supposed to be. Anyways, it's a false positive.
-
Forgot to mention that, it's Kaspersky.
I'll admit I don't know a lot about computers or anything but I try to learn as much as possible before making decisions. How would it go about detecting the virus down to the name, but still be a false positive?
-
Im actually having the same problem my av is detecting a malware or a virus and I have no clue why its saying that but mine says the threat name is trojan.generic.kd im using bitdefender.
-
Noneyo It doesn't detect it down to the name, that is a generic detection. I guess parts of piry act like ransomware, no idea what exactly. Kaspersky offers no info on what "instructions.rt" is. All piry does is check the folder it's in for game files, verify them and download missing/corrupted ones.

I didn't know it was a generic detection, I'll have to look into that as well as dig into "instructions.rt".
Thanks for the really quick responses, have a good rest of your day!

I mean it really comes down to logics and common sense.
- Why would people who spent years developing a huge mod for a game ruin it by distributing malware?
- Why would people who have the skills to create such a mod write malware that is detected by av software?
- Why would thousands of people, some of them also having reverse engineering/coding knowledge, play on pluto and not complain about any malware?
On the other hand:
- Why would plutonium staff admit to you that they ship malware?
