As a server owner I do really want to do my due-diligence when taking action against unfair players. Part of that is doing a little bit of research. I'll have a report of a player cheating and I'll look at their stats, patterns, try to spectate them if I can, look at their account on their forums see if its new or if their a long time player (it's always been a new account lol).

With that though I think it would be cool if at least server owners could share public notes on players. When I ban someone from our server network, I'd love to post a note on their account saying what I saw and what I did, so that the next person lookin into this guy might see if other server owners are saying similar things about that player.

I doubt we could get that feature on here, but I do think it would be cool, super useful.

The community could do their own due-diligence by making a public API to check if a player has been banned and it auto kick them.

What counts as an "unfair player"? And how can you distinguish fair players from unfair ones?

The cheating situation in Pluto is quite low. Of course, no game is completely free of cheaters, but if someone wants to cheat, they usually need a paid subscription to use undetected cheats.

So my question is: if the average KD of players is between 1.0 and 1.4, how can you distinguish a cheater from a player with a 3 or 4 KD?

The game is old, wallbang spots are well known, as well as pre-aiming positions. Prefiring common spots is also normal.

Unless a player is using wallhacks or a blatant aimbot, the chances of banning fair players are high.

One of my ideas was to create a hierachy of servers for example

1st server: low ranked server ban anyone who gets a kd 3.0 or higher making them have to play number 2 server
2nd server: mid ranked server ban anyone who gets a kd 6.0 or higher etc

Noobs can have more friendly games, whilst keeping people within their skill set. the above is just an example of a ranked environment.

Dec I don't wanna call it bringing SBMM to Plutonium, but I do like the idea of players being grouped somewhat by skill level.

So your plan is some sort of SBMM on Pluto? The player base of BO2 is big compared to other older CoDs, but it’s not that big compared to newer CoDs or other online FPS games.

So your idea is to avoid tryhards, which means less-skilled players would play against bots and other less-skilled players. If they’re that bad, why don’t they just play against bots?
If you’re not good, instead of alienating a portion of the gaming community, you should work on improving yourself. That’s how things work in the real world.
