I feel like there is an issue of high ping across the board, for a lot of people. Maybe the servers need upgrading or something?

Jeriks Have you restarted your network equipment? A increase like that is usually caused on the clients side.
VelocityRAY I can only speak for my servers, but usually only people joining from the other side of the globe complain about ping because they fail to realize they won't get a good ping with a distance like that.
