The game instantly crashes after i open it thru the launcher. i downloaded the base game files thru qbittorrent, could that have been the issue? do I need to download the base game files thru stream instead?

MidnightS no, why would we offer a torrent download if it didn't work? Do you have msi afterburner, rivatuner or any other programs that have overlays? If yes disable them.
