Name not unique error.

First of all, how is my name not "unique" considering that I'm using my plutonium account name which basically forced me to have a unique name in order to create the account in the first place?
Second, even when I open up the commands and type "/name [my gamertag]" as i am asked to do, nothing works.
Overall, it just doesn't make sense to me how my name isn't "unique" even after going through a process that forces me to have a unique name in the first place.
Until the commands get fixed (if they get fixed), would an immediate solution be to just make a new plutonium account?
Are there any suggestions that can help me fix this without having to make another account which essentially means ill have to use up another email address?
