It was the morning of the big game when Maplewood School’s soccer trophy vanished! Detective Lily Jones, age twelve, was already on the case. She searched the gym, the lockers, even the janitor’s closet. “Who would steal it?” her friend Max asked. “Maybe someone jealous,” Lily said, tapping her notebook. A glitter trail led toward the art room. Inside, they found paint brushes, glue, and—pieces of gold foil! Suddenly, the art teacher entered. “Oh! You found my project,” she said nervously. Lily smiled. “Aha! You didn’t steal it, you borrowed it for decorations!” The teacher blushed. “I meant to return it before the game.” The mystery was solved, just in time for the team to win again. The trophy gleamed brighter than ever, and Lily wrote her final note: “Case closed!”
