Hey. I talked about this in another player's post (DaveStradlin) but IW5 simply won't. Stop. Crashing. I thought the problem was fixed after updating my gpu drivers becuase the crashes lowered in frequency A LOT, while still happening very sparcely, to the point that I really didn't mind them. However I wanted to play some games today and it simply wouldn't stop crashing. And it's always the same. The game freezes randomly and I get a windows pop-up that says, well, what it says in the title. "Plutonium Bootstrapper has stopped working." I have no leads other that somehow it happens a lot when there's a big explosion in game? I don't know. But I am a little bit desperate. If this has happened to anyone else, how did you fix it? What baffles me most is how it varies from person to person. I play with two friends. One of them gets crashes just like mine, and the other... Gets no crashes whatsoever. How can that be? I'm really confused and frustrated.

So yeah, that's it. Sorry for constantly posting about the same, but I really wanna fix it so I can play normally. Thanks in advance.

Hey y'all. Just dropping by to let you know that, following Resxt's advice, I updated my GPU drivers and the crashes stopped happening...

Except when I stream the game through discord. Any idea what that might be about? In any case, updating the drivers helped, so thank you!

DaveStradlin Does it also happen to you that, when the screen freezes, the sound keeps going, like, the ambient sound? I was JUST playing a game and it crashed, but the Dome background noise (wind) kept playing. Just thought that might be relevant to the problem.

Honestly, I think this might just be that the game is very old and prone to crashes, lol.

Resxt So far, I've had it in basically all vanilla maps and Nuketown.

Hey, this is also happening to me pretty constantly. I'll go into detail: I launch Pluto, open IW5, and choose any random server (Particularly, it's happening a lot in HGM servers in which I have very low ping.) and hop into a game. At some point along that first game, and it could be ANY time, like just after joining, twenty minutes after joining, when the game is about to end... it will crash. The screen freezes for around 10 seconds; then the "Plutonium has crashed" message will appear with the options to either wait for it to fix itself (never works) or just to close the program.

So I close it and open in again. From there, maybe it won't crash again for the entirety of the play session, or the problem described above will repeat between one and three times, sometimes four. Importantly, there is always a "last crash"; after which, the game will stop crashing and I can play normally for one or two hours.

I have two theories as to why this might be happening.

1. It's a 12 year old game. It's bound to crash a couple of times. Nothing we can do about it.
2. Maybe it crashes when the internet connection stumbles??? I play through wifi and it can get pretty stanky from time to time.

So idk. That's all i got. Sorry for the long reply.
