Plutonium

i read on the post about joining custom games with friends that in order to join the host must have upnp enabled or must manually forward the ports for the game however i was able to join my friends game without him having upnp enabled or having forwarded the ports. he however was not able to join my custom game (i also do not have upnp enabled). i am curious as to why that is? is it because hes running the steam version of plutonium and im using the torrent version? edit: worked in both zombies and multiplayer btw

this is an issue with the main game as it happens if i try to launch the base game but i thought someone here might be able to help. when i try and start the game through plutonium or base game, the game starts and i can see it in my taskbar but it is minimized and when i try to click on it 1 of 2 things will happen, a small black box in the top left of my screen will appear for like a millisecond and disappear and the game will minimize or it will go fullscreen with a black screen for a millisecond and minimize and im not sure how i can fix it
