Been trying to to just join my friends and go into customs instead of going into a server and having randoms join and every time I've been unable to join them, is there any fixes?

Problem playing with people with different game versionsI have the steam version of bo1 and when I run with my friend who has the plutonium version the game doesn't work right, my friend will have a ak 74u and can't get kills but then if he's hosts I get kicked when we load in and I get an error message saying I had a mismatch for the ak 74u
