I don't know why this is happening but he is running through ethernet and has 1gib/s speed on a beefy and super good pc. I'm experiencing 0 lag on a macbook pro with pretty average wifi so I don't understand why this would be the case.

opiumm Are you playing in a Private match or playing on a server with your friend, because ping is determined mostly by distance to the host or where the server is located. For example if your located in the UK you would ping around 100+ playing on a North America server, but an EU server would give you a way better ping due to a closer distance from your location.
