Online profiles for world at war

I noticed that even with plutonium having removed the whole issue with the steam world at war profile and replacing it with what plutonium has, I see that I'm still offline on the top right. Am I required in any way to create a profile there or can I just ignore it and still play with friends?

YOU are always online on Plutonium T4.
So, just ignore it.
