Can't play custom games with friends after update

We've been able to play custom games before the new update but now when someone types "connect ip:4976" in the console nothing will happen. Tried making my own server with .bat files which worked except my game wouldn't launch while the server was up so I couldn't play. Any kind of fix for this?

Launch the game, then your server.

HannesC I've done exactly that and the server won't appear for anyone if I launch the game first.
