having issues with certain sound effects being unlistenably quiet/missing playing WAW on Linux Mint 21

I've recently switched to Linux mint version 21.2 from Windows 11, and although it took a lot of work and a lot of headache, I was eventually able to get plutonium working on it through proton (i had no luck with lutris for some reason and i had to update my wine version, before you ask i just put pluto in my steam library, then forced compatibility using proton experimental)
however, I'm having a huge issue with some of the sound effects, most of them sound fine but for some reason specific ones are either so quite i can barely hear them, or just non-existent
some examples include the sound that plays when you buy stuff, teleporter sounds, all the sounds relating to the mystery box except the sound that plays when you open it for a split second (not the jingle, the sound effect that plays before the jingle), samathas "fetch me their souls" soundbite, and probably more that i just haven't noticed yet. Every other sound is fine, except for specific ones.
Is this a common issue with plutonium on linux? i'm using the T4 torrent as my waw game file, so maybe there's a possibility it has something to do with that? i'm extremely lost.

same here, the audio that's missing when I play the game works when running waw straight off of the steam launcher but a lot of the audio cues and sound effects are non existent when being ran through plutonium. idk what to do.
this happened to me on Pop_Os last year I tried getting into linux and again on Kubuntu if that helps.

I had this exact issue with BO1 when running the game/plutonium through Lutris or Bottles, running the plutonium launcher with system wine fixed this for me

via_the_owl What do you mean specifically by running the launcher with system wine? I've been beating my head against this for so long trying all kinds of different protontricks and it's killing me
EDIT: Your post actually helped me! I had been installing the different protontricks audio fixes into each game folder with no success, but installing them to the Plutonium folder instead fixed everything. If anybody else has this problem, and you've tried installing xact/faudio/etc., try installing them on pluto

to clarify I launch the plutonium launcher from a terminal running "wine ./plutonium.exe" which will run it in my systems default wine prefix located at "~/.wine" currently with wine version wine-11.15
