Games stuck on 1080p after uprading to 1440p monitor
-
There is no overclocking on my monitor. I don't know what you are talking about, please let me know what to change. I also just installed direct X and now for some reason when I try to change the display settings it sets it to 1600x1050 or something similar as the max but I don't click save so idk why it wont let me go to 2560x1440.

Xerxes how did u get it to go to that (not sure if ur post was sarcasm saying it doesn't work on display port)? I have a rtx 3080 so I don't have the AMD software tho.

AMD
If you have an NVIDIA GPU check your control panel or the Nvidia App. If you have an AMD GPU check the AMD Software/AMD Adrenalin.

Hello, I found a fix for this problem.
I searched everywhere but didn't find a fix but to use Windowed (Fullscreen).
Here is a full fix:1: download Custom Resolution Utility (CRU)
2: extract and run CRU.exe
3: delete all unused Resolutions (all Established resolutions, all Standard resolutions)
4: ALSO delete all TV resolutions in Extension blocks (I removed Audio stuff too because I don´t use it)
5: If you have another Monitor connected to the same things for it.
6: run restart64.exe from the same folder (this restarts the driver)
Example:

after doing this I can select 2560x1440 in Fullscreen

I hope that I helped somebody with this -

U deserve a follow -
Fornata all plutonium games (nothing else though) is stuck at 1080p even though I am on a 1440p monitor (AOC Agon Pro AG276QZD2). I have tried everything from config file editing to changing r_mode via the console and nothing works. I made a YouTube video showing the problem but I don't have enough rep to post it.
Hothead69 you reinstalled plutonium?
this pc>local disc (c)>users>your pc name>appdata>local>Plutonium
then delete it then reinstall plutonium again and check problem fixed or no -

The only thing that worked was Trirad56 's solution to the problem so shout out to them! Also Trirad56 I do not recommend deleting everything since now my monitor will not go to sleep mode after I turn my PC off, I have to manually power it off now. I will probably just reset it and then when I want to play plutonium just delete the bad resolutions. Also for some reason the program won't let me make a 240 hz 1440p resolution, I had to do it in the Nvidia Control Pannel but the app let me remove the 1080p stuff so it worked and I cannot complain!

Confirmed working in 2025/2026.
Thank you Trirad.
