So I've watched youtube videos on how to download the application correctly. I've run piry at least 3 times, and triple checked that for game settings the folder is the folder that I have piry in. And I still get this message. I've also deleted the files and reinstalled them to no avail. If anyone has seen this message before or knows what it means, that would be wonderful as I really miss playing this multiplayer!!

Yeah, you're missing DX9 runtimes. Install these redists and run dxsetup.exe inside the directx folder https://drive.google.com/u/0/uc?id=1gG_DXaZfAUETfXaYJzCP36ImvE_bO_x9&export=download

if you are on windows 7 you cant run the game because xinput1_4.dll was shipped with windows 10 and was not backwards compatible with 7 that is the only way you can get that type of error

jok3r if dx9 runtimes are installed correctly you shouldn't see that error. Unless you're shit at pirating games and actually downloaded a shit repack and placed xinput1_3 in your win32 directory from some online site, don't really know what's causing it.

HannesC i used piry to download bo2 files to a folder i made(yes, the game is downloaded in the same folder where i placed pory). Then downloaded plutonium launcher set the path to that folder, failed to launch with this error. Found this post and did all that was said is a fix but didn’t work for me.

jok3r Please don't advise anyone to do that as it is a unsafe and bad practice. All thats needed to solve that issue is to install directx 9.

Xerxes But that’s the thing. This was the only it would work for me. I reinstalled everything, did what you guys suggested and nothing seemed to work. I did this only cause I wanted to see if it would work. Not gonna say it’s safe but if nothing else works this does. And of course everyone can ignore this if they want to. Just posted that in case someone is that desperate to play this game. Certanily won’t advise to do this to anyone. Sorry if it seemed like I am.
