Me and my friend can't play custom zombies

We've been trying for hours but it still won't work, we've turned our UnPU thing on, and we've typed each other ip's into the console (connect IPhere), but everytime we double click onto each other on the friends list it does nothing, when we click onto each others name our game doesn't even attempt to load into the game.

Our guide says "if UPnP doesn't work then port forward". Did you port forward on your router? (well the one who's hosting)
