krevso were making a private session with me as the host, not using a dedicated server or anything, but it says joining session and then nothing happens

your router's web interface. The custom games guide tells you to forward port 4976 udp if all else fails.
Ik you're trying to host a private match, you may still need to forward the port for that to work.
