Hi, is it normal that I will have high ping on my home network (not in game, just the server list) but then if I hotspot my phone with 1 bar of signal I get lower ping? I host a server through Amazon and its located less than an hour from my house and Its pings so high on the list that half the time it wont show but then when i switch to my hotspot it shows fine, same with other servers too.

My phones plan is Verizon business and it has unlimited 4G LTE.
My home network gets 120MBPS Down and 15-30MBPS Up. And when I speedtest, I get like 12-20 ping to my ISPs server.

it says high ping on the server list, but when you actually join its not high ping, i think at the moment you click "refresh" it instantly gets the ms, and you may have ran into a spike as soon as you clicked "refresh" so thats maybe why, my sarver says "999 ping" but i join and i get 47 ping

Your speeds is a factor but not the biggest in limitations of your ping. The biggest factor is relative location between the server and the client.

Friz What im saying is, I get high ping when in server list anyways no matter what. I dont in game. My own pluto server is located 45 minutes away from my house and the server list still shows it as 400+ ping

@MrDucxy Using the hotspot in general could be the issue. Its not a dedicated network and your phone should definitely not be a substitute for a full fledged network setup.

Drgn no no no. The hotspot was used for testing. I have BETTER PING on the hotspot than my own home network. Thats why im so confused as why my better home conenction is getting higher ping

Verizon probably has a better peering to Amazon than your residential ISP at home. What also could be, since we are only speaking about the ping in the server browser, is that your router can not handle the amount of connections that are opened when all servers are queried.
