Controller settings dont work

Since i installed mw3 and need to add it to steam and setup my controller in steam the normal ingame controller settings doesnt work anymore and i hate it
can anybody tell me how i can get the settings working again? -
if your using a xbox controller they should work natively but if your using a ps4 controller i would look into ds4windows and use it with steam and you should be just fine
